1. Who We Are

THE RACK is a ball python breeding management platform operated by Soul Serpents, LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

2. Data We Collect

Account Data

When you purchase THE RACK, we collect your name, email address, and purchase information through Shopify. This data is used to create your account and deliver the software.

Breeding and Animal Data

Data you enter into THE RACK, including animal records, feeding logs, clutch records, weights, and related husbandry information, is stored on our infrastructure hosted on secure cloud infrastructure. This data is yours. We do not sell it.

Login Activity and Security Logging

When you sign in to THE RACK, we record the following information for account security purposes:

• Login timestamp (date and time)
• IP address
• Device or browser identifier

This information is used solely to detect unauthorized access and protect your account. Login activity data is automatically deleted after 90 days. We do not use IP addresses for advertising, geolocation tracking, or any purpose beyond account security.

Usage Data

We may collect anonymized usage data such as login frequency and feature usage to improve the platform. This data is not tied to your personal identity.

Cookies

We use cookies for authentication and basic site functionality. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

Identity Verification (Optional)

Rack Central offers an optional, free identity verification for breeders. If you choose to verify, we collect a photo of you holding a government-issued ID, a photo showing your animals, and the legal name you provide. These photos are reviewed manually by Soul Serpents, LLC staff and are permanently deleted immediately after review — we do not store your ID document or your photos. We retain only the verification result, the legal name we confirmed, and the date. Verification is never required to use Rack Central or to list animals.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To operate and deliver THE RACK service
• To send transactional emails such as login credentials and support responses
• To improve the platform based on usage patterns
• To build platform features including lineage and registry systems using animal data
• To protect account security through login activity monitoring

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with third parties except as required to operate the service, such as payment processing through Shopify.

Public Features

THE RACK includes optional features that display information publicly, such as:

• Public incubator clutch pages (viewable by anyone with the link)
• Animal report cards (accessible via QR code scan)
• RACK Central marketplace profiles (visible to other RACK users and the public)

You control which information is shared publicly through your Privacy settings. Only data you explicitly choose to make public is displayed. Public features can be disabled at any time. We do not share data publicly without your opt-in.

Sales and Customer Data

THE RACK provides sales tracking and customer management tools. Customer names, contact information, and transaction records you enter are stored in your account and are not shared with other users or third parties, except where you explicitly send buyer information to a seller through Rack Central (see Rack Central Marketplace below). Soul Serpents, LLC does not access, use, or share your customer data for any purpose other than operating the platform.

Rack Central Marketplace

When you use Rack Central, our marketplace and breeder community, additional data is processed:

• Listings and public pages. Animals, genetics, lineage, photos, and clutch details you choose to list or make public are visible to other users and the public. You control what is published and can unpublish at any time.
• Messaging. Messages you send another user are stored and delivered to that user. We are not responsible for the content of user-to-user communications.
• Buyer information shared with a seller. If you send a seller your contact or shipping details through an inquiry, that information is shared with that seller to respond to and fulfill your purchase. This is the one case where information you enter is shared with another user, and only because you chose to send it.
• Watchlists. We store the listings, clutches, and projects you choose to watch so we can notify you. Breeders see only how many people are watching, never who.
• Animal transfers. If you transfer an animal through Rack Central, its record, including lineage and history you include, moves to the buyer’s account.
• Market pricing (opt-in). If you opt in, we use your recorded sale prices in aggregated, anonymized form to estimate market pricing. We never reveal individual sales or any buyer’s or seller’s identity.

Rack Central is a listing and discovery service. We do not process payments, hold funds, or take part in transactions between users.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. Data is stored in the United States. We maintain backup systems to protect against data loss.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Export your breeding data at any time using the in-app export tools
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
• Request a copy of your personal data

6. California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact support@therackapp.io.

7. Data Retention

• Account and breeding data: Retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of a deletion request.
• Login history: Automatically purged after 90 days.
• Backups: Retained for 90 days after data deletion.
• Anonymized usage data: May be retained indefinitely.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including data isolation, encrypted connections, and access controls to protect your data. No system is completely immune to breach. We will notify affected users in the event of a data breach affecting personal information.

9. Third-Party Integrations

Govee Temperature Monitoring

THE RACK integrates with the Govee developer API to provide optional incubator temperature monitoring. When you connect a Govee account, the following data is collected and stored:

• Your Govee API key (stored encrypted on our infrastructure, never shared)
• Sensor device identifiers (model, MAC address)
• Temperature and humidity readings from your connected sensors

This data is transmitted from Govee's servers to our infrastructure via secure HTTPS connections. We do not share your Govee data with any third party. You may disconnect your Govee account at any time, which will delete your stored API key and sensor data.

Amazon Affiliate Links

THE RACK may display links to compatible hardware products on Amazon.com. These links contain an Amazon Associates affiliate tag. If you purchase through these links, Soul Serpents, LLC may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. No personal data is shared with Amazon through these links beyond what Amazon collects through their own platform.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy with reasonable notice. Continued use of THE RACK after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
